Time is engraved extraordinary, unity is great. On July 1, 2023, the Communist Party of China will celebrate its 102nd anniversary. After a glorious journey of more than 100 years, the Marxist ruling party, with its original aspiration and mission firmly in its shoulders, has forged ahead on this new journey 踔厉 and written with full confidence the great history of China's development in the new era.
Why is July 1 the birthday of the Party?
It is the Communist International that commemorates the founding of the Communist Party of China. On June 23, 1936, the Executive Committee of the Communist International issued a decision on the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. Accordingly, the Communist International held a series of commemorative activities, and the Communist International magazine published a series of articles commemorating the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
On July 1, 1937, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held a meeting of party activists, and Zhou Enlai made a report on the 16th anniversary of the Communist Party of China, which set a precedent for the education of party members on July 1, but the report did not mention the specific time of the birth of the party.
In 1938, the anti-Japanese base held activities to commemorate the 17th anniversary of the founding of the Party, and the date needed to be fixed. They recalled that it was held in July, but the exact date was not remembered, so they discussed July 1 as the anniversary of the birth of the party. Dong Biwu said in 1971: "July 1 this day, but also later set, the day of the real meeting, no one can say." On June 24, 1938, the CPC Central Committee issued the Propaganda Outline on the 17th Anniversary of the CPC.
In June 1941, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued the Instructions on the fourth anniversary of the 20th anniversary of the birth of the Communist Party of China, and for the first time in the name of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, July 1 was regarded as the anniversary of the birth of the Party. Party and government organs and people's organizations in Yan 'an held activities to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Party. Since then, the celebration of the founding of the Party on July 1 has been continued.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Party Central Committee's activities to celebrate the founding of the Party were basically held on July 1, and over time, some people thought that the Communist Party of China was born on July 1. Since a major opening date has been identified, July 23 is the true birth day of the Party, while July 1 is the anniversary, and there is a difference between the two days.
“中国共产党”的由来，你知道吗？
1920年8月，陈独秀在上海发起成立了中国共产党的第一个早期组织。1920年9月1日，陈独秀在《新青年》发表的《对于时局之我见》一文中，曾称“吾党”为“社会党”，后来才改称为“共产党”。
最早提出“中国共产党”这一名称的是蔡和森。1920年8月13日和9月16日，正在留法勤工俭学的他，在给毛泽东写的两封信中，详细地研讨了共产党问题，提出：“先要组织党——共产党，因为它是革命运动的发动者、宣传者、先锋队、作战部。”他在对西欧各国共产党特别是俄国共产党考察的基础上，提出了具体的建党步骤，其中包括“明目张胆正式成立一个中国共产党”。
在此前后，陈独秀在上海，李大钊、张申府在北京也通过信函讨论了党的名称问题，决定采用“共产党”作为中国无产阶级政党的名称。
